Biking Hurricane Cliffs turned out to be very doable and a lot of fun!

We were set for a bike and hike trip adventure with Backroads — the excellent touring company, but with an extra day on our hands we set out to Ride Hurricane Cliffs, a mountain bike destination that is wide open for Boomers with a sense of adventure.

Check out the new Biking 4 Boomers video to see it up close.

Maybe the most fun I’ve had mountain biking!

In the companion blog to this video, I talked about how awesome it was to be riding in this environment. Let’s face it. If you ride in the east — it’s a much different experience.

I didn’t even know there was such a thing as Hurricane Cliffs. In fact, I thought our extra day before the real adventure in Zion, Grand Canyon and Bryce National Parks was going to be a drag. Killing time at the hotel. When I found out there was a chance to go mountain biking in a cool new place and an environment I had never seen before I was so psyched.

In the video, I talk a bit about the dangers in the area. Things like rattlesnakes, scorpions, and oh yeah – falling off the edge. Again, it’s just so different from what I’m used to seeing here in the east. Granted — I’ve figured out about every way to hurt myself with the trees and ruts and gullies we have here. But this made my heart race in a whole new way.

Beyond that, this proves that people in their late 50’s 60’s and older can go out and play in the dirt and really have a good time.

Enjoy!
